National Assembly President: constitutional debate input from street sessions will be heeded

(VHeadline.com News) - "National Assembly president, Cilia Flores, has confirmed that proposals collected from street parliament sessions will be taken into account, once the House mixed committee starts debating the constitutional reform bill article by article.

Flores made the statement after attending a street parliament session in Anzoátegui.

Referring to the situation room created in the National Assembly, the parliamentarian says that every day proposals are being collected and collated, adding that the majority support the constitutional reform.

The consultation process will end in October and Flores stresses that the House wants to get the bill to the CNE as soon as possible.

The CNE has 30 days to organize a popular referendum, which, Flores hopes, could be in the first week of December.

Regarding financial assistance to communal councils, Flores points out that the reform proposes that 10% of the treasury fund goes to the councils.

The National Assembly, Flores insists, is committed to the people and she is convinced that once the reform has been passed, people will agree to it in a popular referendum because they will see their rights recognized in the changes.

Flores has also announced that the National Assembly committee will listen to Patria Para Todos (PPT) leader, Aristobulo Isturiz, and journalists, Eleazar Díaz Rangel and José Vicente Rangel".
