Communications & Information Minister: massive distribution of reform content to let people decide truth and lies

(VHeadline.com News) - "Communications & Information Minister, William Lara, says the government will reinforce information on the content of the constitutional reform bill so that Venezuelans get to know at first hand the President's proposals.

The policy is aimed at preventing opposition sectors from manipulating certain aspects of the 33 articles under reform.

The Minister comments that it would be ideal, if the opposition presented a counter-offer based on truth. However, Lara says it is too much to expect, an illusion and will not happen because the opposition is already accustomed to administering lies, thinking it will heap up political mileage... ' the truth is, it will fail once again.'

The government is in better condition than before to let the people know the real truth behind the bill's content.

According to the Minister, between 18 to 20% of the population oppose President Chávez, commenting that he hopes they will oppose democratic and civil behavior during the debate and leading up to the referendum.

Lara announces the government will start a campaign to counter some of the extravagant headlines appearing in the press regarding the reform but will not restrict freedom of expression in the country.

The government trusts in the people, Lara states, and is preparing 5 million copies of the reform bill to be distributed freely, which he hopes will promote an active debate".
