Students encourage constitutional reform debate (Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "Students from several regions of the country met in the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV), in Caracas, to know and discuss the 33 articles proposed to be modified in the Constitution.
Franklin Orellana, student of Political Science, said that the young people have been incorporated to the debate through the several spheres where the street parliamentarism have taken place.
In his opinion, 'he students must to keep in front in the progress of the process.'
Orellana said that the top priority is that the people 'discuss about the benefits, the need, the positive and weak aspects of the constitution in order to know why they will give their support to the proposal'.
He said that the students have historically organized themselves to struggle and demand their rights.
'We consider that we have to transcend it and start to contribute in the construction of the national project'.
According to him, one of the students' most important objectives is to promote the reform's discussion to all the country to show that 'the new Constitution is for the people'.
Orellana also said that the students will create the promoting teams of students councils for each state during the meeting carried out in the UBV. Each council will promote the debate in each region of the country". |
