(Ministry of Communication and Information, press release) - "The Ministry of Health has invested one billion 355 million Bolivares in the recuperation of the National red of hospitals. The work began with its electrical services, air system and internal conditioning of the medical centres.

Over a period of two years the Milagros Mission have attended 500 thousand Ophthalmology cases of which 200 thousand were done in Cuba and 300 thousand in Venezuela, informed Jesús Mantilla, Ministry of the Popular Power for Health and Social Development at the first round of meetings of Ophthalmology of Mission Milagro in the Hotel Alba Caracas.

The event that began on 20 September and finishes 21 September, has a participation of 250 specialists in Ophthalmology from all over the country, Colombia, Mexico, Spain and Argentina who will debate the different angles of this social programme (...)

The Mission Milagro has been functioning in different hospitals all over the country and has had an investment of 15 thousand million bolivares for high technology equipment, such as microscopes, geometrical rulers, equipment for ecos of the eye and laser which contributes to reducing patient's waiting time, assessment and operations (.)

Mission Barrio Adentro strengthens the health system

The Spokesman for the Health Service informed that the health red has been getting stronger due to the social programme Barrio Adentro which is spread over the national territory. Barrio Adentro 1 has 2113 working modules; Barrio Dentro 2 has 870 working centres: Centre for Integral Diagnosis (CDI), Rehabilitation Centres (SRI) and Centres for High Technology (CAT).

Via the programme Barrio Adentro, 252 milllion consultations have been done more than 70 million of tests in the Centres of High Technology, 1 million 600 thousand people have been rehabilitated in the centres for rehabilitation; 28 million dental consultations have been done.

With reference to Barrio Adentro 3, which task is to recuperate and restore the red for bigger hospitals, has had an investment of 1 billion 355 thousand for 54 hospitals. The works began on the electrical system, air conditioning and areas of vapour and operating theatres. They are receiving an approximate of 966 thousand million Bolivares in equipment, some of which are already installed, such as X ray, Magnetic Resonance, operating tables, anaesthetic machines, multiparameter monitors, electrocardiogram equipment, etc (.)'.
