Mercal ends August with a total distribution of 120,000 tonnes of food (Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "Venezuela's Food Store Network (Mercal) closed August business with a total distribution of 120,000 tonnes of food ... an increase of 100% compared to 60,000 tonnes registered last January.
Food Minister Rafael Oropeza and Mercal president, Félix Osorio were attending the opened of a second Supermercal in Guanare, Portuguesa State.
Osorio attributed the increase of food distribution capacity to the coordination and improvement of public politics aimed at optimizing the service and guaranteeing food supplies to the Venezuelan people. He stressed the role of organized communities as guarantor for the government's planned implementation of food programs.
'Community councils, especially food committees, are wholly authorized to supervise the operations carried out in the Ministry institutions,' Osorio said". |
