CAF approves US$90mn
for Yacambu basin management
(BNamericas.com) - "The Andean
Development Corporation (CAF) has approved
a US$90mn loan to Venezuela to finance
integrated water resource management in
Lara state's Yacambu-Quibor basin, the
CAF said.
The program aims to support integrated
and sustainable agricultural development
in Quibor valley and the Yacambu basin
in the country's east. In addition to
providing more water for agricultural
purposes, the program would increase the
water supply to Barquisimeto and surrounding
populations.
Environmental and social aspects related
to the project will receive 10% of the
funds. Barquisimeto in Lara state has
996,000 inhabitants".
