Venezuela looks to Argentina and Brazil for medicine production
(EFE) - "The Venezuelan government announced that it hopes to have medical experts from Argentina, Brazil, India and Bulgaria join their Cuban counterparts in helping Caracas increase its production of basic medicines.

'With technology transfer and the training of specialists, we're going to increase from the approximately 20 medicines we now produce to the 128 basic ones,' said Norman Ruíz, director of the state-run Independent Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Service (…)
The Service currently produces around 20 medicines, mostly for the treatment of tuberculosis, mental problems and malaria. 'These are the ones that private laboratories find less than attractive in terms of profits' said Ruíz (…)

Argentina and Bulgaria are expected to help out in the production of anti-cancer medicines, while India is looked to for anti-malaria remedies and Brazil for anti-retroviral drugs to use in treating the virus that causes AIDS".
