Venezuela CVG aluminum
output hits record in October
(Reuters) - "Aluminum production
at CVG Venalum, Venezuela's largest state-run
smelter, hit a record high of 37,381 tonnes
in October compared with 36,982 tonnes
a year before, the company said on.
Accumulated production for the first 10
months of the year totalled 365,831 tonnes,
an increase of 5,085 tonnes compared to
the same period in 2003, the firm said
in a statement.
The plant, owned by the state and a group
of Japanese companies, expects to produce
441,800 tonnes this year, up from 435,410
tonnes last year.
Venalum has a nominal capacity of 430,000
tonnes a year, but it is planning to add
a sixth line by 2007 to help raise production
to more than 700,000 tonnes a year".
