Integration between
Colombia, Panama and Venezuela
(El Mundo) - "The Presidents
of Colombia, Venezuela and Panama will
meet on November in Colombia to examine
economical and energetic integration issues,
as informed by the Colombian Minister
of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Carolina Barco.
The Minister said the
presidents will talk about issues like
the construction of a gasduct connecting
Colombia with Panama, Mexico and Venezuela,
as part of a plan called Puebla-Panama.
They will also discuss
the construction of a highway that connects
the whole continent.
The gasduct will initially
be constructed from the Colombian gas
fields of La Guajira to the Venezuelan
city of Maracaibo, and during seven
years it will provide gas to Maracaibo
and surrounding areas. Then, when Venezuela
connects its large gas fields with Maracaibo,
this gasduct will extend to Mexico.
The Venezuelan ambassador
in Bogota, Carlos Rodolfo Santiago,
informed that President Hugo Chávez
and President Uribe, will examine a
project for constructing an oilduct
through Colombian territory into the
Pacific, to export Venezuelan oil to
Asian countries. In order to do so,
15 technicians from Petroleos de Venezuela
are working with officials from Ecopetrol
and the Colombian Ministry of Mines
