Conindustria proposes strategic alliance
with the government
(Últimas Noticias) - "The
Venezuelan Confederation of Industries
(Conindustria) proposed to the central
government a strategic alliance in order
to favour the reactivation of the national
productive sector and the generation of
new sources of employment.
The directors of Conindustria,
presided by Lope Mendoza met with Vice
President José Vicente Rangel
and agreed to present a priority agenda,
in order to establish a timetable to
reactivate the industry.
Conindustria agreed to
provide 'documents containing the different
issues to be discussed with the ministries
that are most related to the industrial
sector, such as Production and Commerce,
Finance, Labour, Science and Technology,
Health, as well as PDVSA and the Venezuelan
Corporation of Guayana', informed Mendoza.
As priority issues to
be discussed, Conindustria proposed
labour, fiscal, economic integration
and competitiveness areas. Mendoza explained
that there will also be proposals regarding
job immobility, incentives and fiscal
exemptions, opportunities with Mercosur
and the strengthening of the small an
medium industry in Venezuela. It is
expected that this last sector will
be consolidated as a non-traditional
exporter and inserted in the government's
development plans.
Mendoza said they
expect to have results from this alliance
with the government by the first quarter
of 2005. He also said Conindustria forecasts
that the GDP will grow this year between
8 and 9% and that inflation will be
of around 20% at the end of the year
