Official calculations say Venezuela is producing 11% more oil that in 2002

(El Nacional) - "(…) The numbers presented by the Banco Central de Venezuela (Venezuelan Central Bank), reveal that the oil situation has been completely normal since the beginning of this year.

The numbers circulated by BCV indicate that oil activity during the first quarter of 2004 was not less than it was during the same period in 2002, but on the contrary, 1,8% superior (...)

More so, the statistics provided by BCV show the effect of the oil strike was not the same as calculated from the beginning. By the end of 2003, oiling activity was only reduced by 2,07% compared to 2002, and did not drop 10,71% during the year as previously announced. In any case, the drop has been surmounted (…)".
