ChevronTexaco finds substantial gas off
Venezuela
(Lloyds List) - "Block 2 discovery
confirms at least some of the potential
of Deltana offshore project-US oil major
ChevronTexaco has discovered large gas
reserves in block 2 offshore Venezuela,
confirming at least some of the gas potential
of the Deltana offshore gas project. The
California-based oil firm is drilling
one of the first exploration wells on
the Deltana area, which lies to the south
of Trinidad's large gas fields. It holds
a 60% interest in block 2, with partner
ConocoPhillips holding the rest. (

This plant will
have an initial production capacity
of 4.7m tons per annum, with the LNG
exported to eastern US terminals starting
in 2008-2010 (
