ChevronTexaco finds substantial gas off Venezuela

(Lloyds List) - "Block 2 discovery confirms at least some of the potential of Deltana offshore project-US oil major ChevronTexaco has discovered large gas reserves in block 2 offshore Venezuela, confirming at least some of the gas potential of the Deltana offshore gas project. The California-based oil firm is drilling one of the first exploration wells on the Deltana area, which lies to the south of Trinidad's large gas fields. It holds a 60% interest in block 2, with partner ConocoPhillips holding the rest. (…)

This plant will have an initial production capacity of 4.7m tons per annum, with the LNG exported to eastern US terminals starting in 2008-2010 (…)".
