Russians interested in investing in aluminum plant and oil exploitation

(El Universal) - "Russian business people expressed their willingness to invest $500 million in the installation of an industrial plant of aluminium in Venezuela, and also to explore and exploit oilfields together with Pdvsa.

The Vice President of Venezuela José Vicente Rangel had the chance to listen to the Russian business offers during his official visit to Moscow (…)

Oleg Derispaka, president of the aluminum firm Rusal, told Rangel that his company is willing to invest $500 million in an aluminum plant for the processing of bauxite in association with the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana.

'With this meeting a political boost has been given to negotiations, as reported in the official statement according to EFE agency.

Rangel also had a meeting with the executives of the private Russian oil company Luk Oil, "who declared their interest to invest in some projects in Venezuela", in collaboration with Pdvsa.

Rangel traveled to Moscow on October 2nd to create a bilateral high-level commission and to prepare an official visit to Russia for Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, next November".
