PDVSA hopes to have hit discovery
jackpot
(Upstream online) - Venezuelan state giant
PDVSA has made an oil discovery that it hopes
will turn out to be a giant find on a par with
its famous "El Furrial" field after
an exploration well north of the Tacata complex
yielded impressive shows of oil and gas. Work
on well TAG-19X was still being concluded this
week, but results have been so impressive that
PDVSA managers are talking about the possibility
of a new giant along the North Monagas trend.
"We believe that this has the potential to
be something quite gigantic", a source in
the company's exploration department said. The
same source even suggested that the reservoir
probed by TAG-19X is not contiguous with the rest
of the Tacata field, but pointed to something
"even bigger".
