SIEX: Foreign investments will reach $1.150 millions
in 2003
(Xinhua Angecy News, reproduced by China Radio
International in Spanish) - The Superintendence
of Foreign Investments (SIEX) forecasts a 400
percent growth in direct foreign investments,
which will reach 1.150 million dollars by the
end of this year.
Miriam Aguilera
Blanco, President of this organisation, explained
that until September this year the Superintendence
had registered 1.086 million dollars and that
during the same period last year it had registered
246 million dollars.
Aguilera added
that in year 2002 the registered investment was
low, due to the Coup d´ Etat and the national
strike between November and December. She also
said that "we expect this year's balance
to be positive, because as months have gone by,
the percentage of foreign investments has increased
considerably. Next year's forecast is even better,
because international organisations predict growth
for the Venezuelan economy of 7.7% of the GDB."
