Pdvsa
assures that the restructuring of Bitor will not
affect international contractual agreements
(El Universal) - The Director of Pdvsa
Oriente, Nelson Martínez, informed that
the organizational restructuring of the subsidiary
Bitúmenes del Orinoco (Bitor) was approved
by the Board of Directors of Petróleos
de Venezuela. He assured that the restructuring
of Bitor will not affect international agreements
that had been signed in the past few years, specially
with European and Asian countries, to which the
company will continue to supply orimulsion
He
assured that contracts with Bitor will remain
in force, as well as international perspectives
of the orimulsion business, but under a new organisational
scheme, in which operational activities of this
subsidiary have been transferred to Pdvsa Oriente
and the support functions have been transferred
to corporate.
This
decision must be interpreted based on the evaluation
process that is being held in Pdvsa concerning
different national and international deals, with
the purpose of reducing costs and making the organisation
more efficient.
Martínez
also informed that José Aray was appointed
leader of the restructuring process of Bitor.
