CNE rejected petitions
(BBC Mundo) - The National Electoral Council (CNE) rejected the signed petitions that were delivered by the opposition asking to revoke President's Chavez mandate. "This council declares inadmissible the petition for referendum delivered on August 20th ", President of the CNE Francisco Carrasquero told to the press.

President Chávez arrived to half his mandate on August 19 and the Constitution states that a revoking referendum can be made once this date has passed.

Carrasquero indicated that the signatures were rejected because they were collected before half of the presidential period was through. He also said that there were some mistakes on the formal procedures related to the forms that were attached to the petition.
