Venezuela:
taking steps towards recall
(BBC
Mundo) The National Electoral Council (CNE)
accepted the requests presented by the government
and opposition, in order to ask for a total of
47 revoking referendums.
The
President of the Council, Francisco Carrasquero,
said that all the demands were met in order to
declare these participations admissible and begin
with the recall procedures.
The
government introduced recall petitions for 38
members of the National Assembly, 7 governors
and one Mayor. On the other hand, the Democratic
Coordination Group set its objective in revoking
President Hugo Chavez from his mandate.
